Transform Your iPad and iPad 2 into a Full-Blown Recording System! |
The Apple iPod, iPhone and iPad products have spawned thousands of interesting apps that apply to the world of Pro AV. A trip to the app store will certainly impress any audio buff with many well thought out software solutions with little or no cost. The fact that the iPad is a consumer product designed for the masses is why app prices are low and the choices are many. Lets face it, we want what these apps can provide! The only issue is how to plug the rest of your pro AV gear into your iPad. Yes, there are various work around cables and connectors but they're really not elegant, practical or the answer we are looking for.
Ok then - what is the answer? ....(drum roll)..... The Alesis iO Dock. This simple solution brings professional audio visual connectivity to your Apple iPad or iPad 2. Just slide your iPad into the iO Dock and you're ready to record, perform and present using professional microphones, guitars, midi keyboards, mixers, projectors and video monitors with all those wonderful apps.
Church Applications for the Alesis iO Dock: - Record Your Sermon - Use one condenser mic placed in the room and a line out from the mixer to capture the pastors voice and audience response. Record using your favorite app, then upload to the web or transfer to your local network to burn a CD.
- Leading Worship Without a Band - Create backing tracks of your favorite worship songs using Garage Band. Use a lyric song book app to show the lyrics and simultaneously play the background track while you lead worship. Some even auto scroll the lyrics.
- Record Choir Rehearsals - Email your team copies of the version you rehearsed so they'll be ready with the right parts on Sunday.
- Guitar Signal Processing for Live Worship - Use some of the great amp simulations, plug your guitar into the dedicated instrument input. Plug the output into the front of house via direct box.
- Small Group/Home Group Graphics/Video Presentation - show scriptures, notes, diagrams and videos on the hosts large-screen TV or with a portable projector at camp retreats.
More Ways to use the Alesis iO Dock: - In Ear Monitor Mixer - use with many digital mixers that have iPad mix control like the PreSonus StudioLive mixers. Control your aux mix remotely and use the headphone out on the iO Dock for your personal in-ear or headphone mix.
- Home Studio Recording - The iO Dock gives you all you need to record any line level, instrument and mic. You'll be able to use a condenser mic with the available phantom power and since it's got a midi input your ready to use a midi keyboard controller to drive some great keyboard, drum and acoustic sounds on as many tracks as needed. Mix down, master and share!
- MIDI Controller - use the iO docks onboard midi in and out to control keyboards, lighting, recorders - anything with MIDI control capability.
- Frequency Analyzer - There are some great audio frequency analyzer apps but some of the add-on measurement mics cost more than the iO Dock. Use a flat response pencil condenser or affordable measurement mic and find the frequency problems in your room.
Complete Connectivity! The iO Dock provides microphone and instrument users with two combination XLR and 1/4-inch inputs, each with its own gain control and switchable phantom power for condenser microphones. Guitarists and bassists will appreciate the iO Dock's guitar-direct switch, enabling them to play, perform and record right into amplifier- and effects-modeling apps. Bands can connect outputs from their mixer and easily record their performances and rehearsals or use the iO Dock as a metronome or loop-playback device. Producers can use the iO Dock's MIDI jacks to sequence external keyboards, samplers, drum machines and synthesizers, or perform using the iO Dock as the sound module and their favorite MIDI-compliant keyboard, drum pad or other controller. An assignable 1/4-inch footswitch input enables remote control of any app-defined function such as stop/start or record. Users can also connect the iO Dock to their Mac or PC using the USB port to send MIDI back and forth for creative, new applications of the iPad and computer used in tandem. Make Your iPad Audio Experience Explode! Users can connect the iO Dock's stereo pair of 1/4-inch main outputs to studio monitors for critical listening, or to PA systems for use in performance settings. They can monitor on headphones, and independently control the levels of the two outputs, each on its own knob. Recording musicians will appreciate the iO Dock's direct-monitor switch, which enables them to toggle between the incoming and playback signal on their headphones. Rounding out the iO Dock's output section is a composite video connector, enabling users to employ the iO Dock as a source for video projection behind bands on stage, or for connection to most televisions and computer monitors.
Rugged Reliability! The iO Dock was built for the real world. Whether you're keeping it in the safety of the studio or taking it out for recording or performance use in the club or on tour, the iO Dock will not only deliver the connectivity you need for audio applications, but it also serves as a rugged, protective case for the iPad. The iO Dock completely houses the iPad on the bottom and three side surfaces. It also encases the iPad's screen in a protective bezel on three of its four edges, further shielding the mobile computing device from the potential for damage in punishing environments. Unleash Your Imagination Today! The applications of the iPad for music creation, production, and performance are limited only by your creativity. The iO Dock allows you to seamlessly connect the world of pro audio gear and instruments to the iPad and the massive collection of apps. |
