HITACHI DIGITAL MEDIA ENLIGHTENS SEATTLE COMMUNITY CHURCH WITH BRIGHT NEW PROJECTION SYSTEM -- The church's video ministry was seeking a way to visually communicate its message in the redesigned facility that featured brighter lighting, and found it in Hitachi Digital Media -- ATLANTA, GEORGIA, www.hitachi.us, June 9, 2004 - The Digital Media Division of Hitachi America, Ltd., a subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd., Tokyo, Japan (NYSE: HIT), announced at InfoComm 2004 that it has answered the call for the video ministry at Seattle Community Church (SCC) with a new CP-X995W, 4500 lumen projector. According to Pete Denes, director of sales, Hitachi Digital Media Division, the Hitachi projector was tested against other systems and won out because of its brightness, cost and reliability. “It is rewarding to have Hitachi projectors chosen for an important installation after going through a battery of tests matched up against other competitors,” Denes said in making the announcement on the opening day of Infocomm 2004. “Hitachi's brighter image and cost effectiveness proved to be the solution to the challenges posed by the church's knowledgeable staff.” Based in Seattle and seating up to 350 members in its sanctuary, the SCC values the use of audio/visual technology to ensure that each individual in attendance receives the best possible experience form every Sunday service. Like a growing number of worship centers around the country, SCC believes that projecting images and scripture during the service helps to emphasize inspirational and spiritual messages. So when the church remodeled its facility to improve lighting, it was surprised to find itself faced with a new challenge: a projection technology that would work effectively in the brightness of the remodeled room. The church's knowledgeable technical staff has an A/V ministry that consists of two systems coordinators that oversee the weekly sound systems for Sunday worship. Also, Pastor Fred Choy has extensive knowledge of the church's projection system and was a key contributor in selecting the right projector to meet the congregation's needs. “Before our recent remodeling effort, the sanctuary was poorly lit,” said Pastor Choy. “When we upgraded our lighting we found that our 1600 lumen projector was no longer bright enough for the main auditorium. We heard about Hitachi's new 4500 lumen projector and asked to have a demonstration and it became the perfect choice for our new worship center.” For comparison purposes, the SCC conducted a number of tests with competitive units, but preferred the brightness and cost effectiveness of the Hitachi CP-X995W. Now, the new 4500 lumen projector from Hitachi is mounted from the lighting at the rear of the main auditorium and is used during weekly services. The CP-X995W weighs only 14 pounds, is ceiling mountable and boasts native XGA resolution. Other features include digital zoom and vertical and horizontal keystone correction. “We see a huge benefit in using projector technology to enhance the worship experience,” said Pastor Choy. “It allows us to use visual aids to enrich the service and to reach every member of the congregation.
